A hydrosol is a pure botanical extraction floral water(aromatic/plant water) that is produced by taking plant materials such as ; flowers, leaves, roots or berries through the process of distillation (steam or hydro). This can be done through an alembic or a still.
Hydrosol or herbal distillate, Hydrolat, floral water, aromatic water,
In the past mmonly known or referred to as a byproduct of the production of essential oils. However, I really don’t like or agree with the language of the word “byproduct”. the word implies that the Hydrosol was created unintentionally and/or by accident and is the leftovers/remnants of essential oil distillation or creation. Hydrosols which are produced as a by-product of the essential oil process are often of lesser and inferior quality.
A true hydrosol is created by the alchemist Intentionally and planned resulting in an aromatic floral/plant water with no intention of extracting essential oils from the plant as an end result.
